The ultimate goal of project Coimbatore Climbing Club (CCC), initiated in July, 2017, likely to engage people from different socioeconomic groups in trailing, trekking, hiking and backpacking with the support of Forest departments. From the recent scientific studies, it is proved that public access to nature is critical for the future of conservation of biodiversity. Having access to natural areas tends to promote a greater level of awareness and concern in the general public on issues related to environmental and biodiversity conservation.
Though, CCC provide opportunities to recreate and conserve nature. Sometimes recreating events such as trailing, trekking, hiking and backpacking, inside a natural environment can result in conflicts. The key to avoid this conflicts is to develop an understanding of the natural environment constraints. Successful design and management of the events create no or less impact on the environment.
The core aims of Coimbatore Climbing Club (CCC) are to:
- Inspire, educate and create awareness to people about the importance of trailing, trekking, hiking and backpacking, inside a natural environment, with an understanding of the natural environment constraints.
- Organize periodic systematic visits to the natural environment places and also analyze the human impact on the environment.
- Select places for recreation that offer settings and recreational opportunities that are scarce in the surrounding region so that unique recreational areas are protected.
- Use several management strategies and actions when approaching a specific problem. Most often a combination of approaches will increase the likelihood of success.
