Event: One Day Awareness Program On Butterfly And Their Conservation

Jun
16

Butterflies are beautiful and fascinating creatures, and good indicators of the health of the environment. International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) reports that the leading causes of animal endangerment are habitat destruction, displacement by introduced species, alteration of habitat by chemical pollutants (such as pesticides), hybridization with other species, and overharvesting. Studies show that some species that were formerly considered widespread or common are now declining as well.

One Day Awareness Programme On Butterfly And Their Conservation will provide “real world” conservation training that is designed for people of all abilities from beginner to much more advanced. This will be jointly run with Tropical Butterfly Conservatory, Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli, and Bishop Heber College,Tiruchirappalli. Course curriculum will include a review of butterfly biology, butterfly identification, Orientation, Butterfly park ideas and Butterfly Conservation. the latest science-based habitat management recommendations, how those recommendations can be implemented, and the basics of captive propagation and reintroductions. We will help you recognise the different species, learn how they depend on their habitats, and find out how you can help conserve them. Using a mix of indoor activities, presentations, and fieldwork in the varied habitats at our Tropical Butterfly Conservatory we’ll help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to enjoy watching and recording butterflies.
